Recently, one of Uplift’s longest serving Direct Support Professionals, David Coulombe, was honored at the Maine Association for Community Service Providers’ 2022 Direct Service Professional Awards. David has served as a DSP for 20 years, and he was one of 15 DSPs presented with an award out of over 80 nominations in the state of Maine. We are both proud of and exceedingly grateful for David and his steadfast commitment to the individuals we support!
The nomination we sent to MACSP for their consideration highlights the level of commitment that David exhibits and a few of the most vital skills he possesses:
Dave has always been a strong advocate for the people he supports in our agency, particularly for the individual he has worked with for many years. Dave’s primary goal in his caregiving is ensuring the individual he supports gets to enjoy activities and be an active member of the community. Dave has cultivated on of the strongest relationships between staff and individual supported that I have ever seen in this line of work. Dave really lives through empathy; he looks at both sides of the coin and tries to put himself in other people’s shoes. He takes the time to have positive and supportive conversations with guardians and CCM. His positive communication and solution-based outlook is what we hope all DSPs strive to be.
Thank you, MACSP, for selecting David as one of your Direct Service Professional Awardees for 2022, and for hosting a wonderful awards ceremony! It was fantastic to be there with other service providers from the entire state of Maine in honor of all the awardees. David, you have our deepest gratitude for your continued commitment to the individuals we support. The impact you have made on the people you have supported and their families over the last 20 years is greater than we could ever put into words. Thank you, and all of our DSPs, for being a part of Uplift, Inc.
